Mridangam
The mridangam is a percussion instrument originating from the Indian subcontinent, played in Maritime Southeast Asia. Its a complex instrument to tune and involves a lot of mathematics to construct korvais.
The mridangam, a double-sided drum, is made of jackfruit wood with goat, cow, or buffalo skin covering its apertures, stretched by leather straps for resonance. Its design allows for bass and treble sounds.
